An assortment of projects I’ve worked on for clients; mostly web development at the moment, but some Photography and Video Productions will be added as they are completed.
Clients range from retail stores like The Computer Hut; services such as LouTech Garage Doors and Openers and many projects for Non-Profit groups and Organizations like The reachAbility Association and World Religion Day.
Feel free to contact me if you have a project that requires Web Hosting, Development, Photography or Video Production.

George & Laura’s Nautical Wedding
**Note:
The happy couple had this up for a year…and is now unpublished

George is from the East Coast and met Laura on the West Coast. They returned to Nova Scotia to have a Wedding At Sea. It was a beautiful day and evening. The clouds lifted as we left port.
The photo/video shoot began earlier in the day preparing camera postions and coordinating with staff & family times and places on the Schooner & at the pub for the reception dinner & dance.
With only one camera and video camera the positioning and coordination aboard the ship was challenging, but well worth it. The web site and videos were completed within a fortnight and the the Bride & Groom were extremely happy with the results.
This was one of my more memorable projects. Contact me for your wedding this summer. A full day and evening runs approximately $1000.
Promotional Video
The reachAbility Association organized a large conference in the spring of 2009 for employers of the private, public and non-profit sectors and wanted a unique promotional tool. The result was a video promoting/elaborating on the many programs they offered. I taped short interviews with each of the coordinators about what made their program special. The end-result was a good summary of what the organization had to offer as an auto-run USB stick that was handed out to over 200 attendees as they registered.

The Computer Hut

Proprietor Russ Billard, of The Computer Hut, has 20 Years experience in all aspects of Computer Maintenance and programming. I have called upon his experience many times in the past and will likely continue to do so in the future.
The ‘Hut’ project went from a bland tabular commerce site to a dynamic, colourful site maintaining the theme of the hut’s tropical atmosphere (the shop has tropical fish on the walls, large grass parasols stand over the displays… it’s like going on vacation.)
The use of polls and the Lightbox and image hovers of the products allows for greater visitor interaction and a pleasing viewing experience.
LouTech Garage Doors and Openers

LouTech Garage Doors and Openers is an overhead door company based in Metro Halifax, but does work all over the province.
A number of years ago Lou’s brother Marcel d’Entremont, a professor at the Nova Scotia Community College, had his students create a table-based site with roll-over graphics. I originally converted the site to validate with XHTML & CSS them completely re-vamped the site with a simple, clean look using the company colours.
Cape Shuttle Service

The Cape Shuttle Service web site was my first commercial site for my first web development customer. I had only just started using CSS and I was looking everywhere to learn more about it. One inspiration was Stu Nicolls of CSSplay.co.uk.

Mimi Art World

Mimi Art World is still in draft and houses the works of Micheline (Mimi) Breton.; and extraordinary artist who does wonderful work with large scale Murals.
Mimi’s Murals have been commission by Provinces, corporations and community groups. Originally hosted on piczo a number of years ago I tansformed this site into an artistic property backed by WordPress Mimi is in the Art World. WordPress has a relatively simple admin panel for Mimi and her husband could operate.
LynPhotos

LynPhotos is currently in draft and promotes the talents of Christie Lyn who has a wide range of skills ranging from photography, jewllery making, greeting cards and even custom furniture re-finishing.
Christie Lyn and I have been at this site since 2007 with many revisions & built with a variety of formats over time. It has incorporated i-frames (yes, I know….), ZenGallery, some javascript image rotators and a lot of other hacked code to get the vision she wanted, however a CMS is probably the best thing to suggest next; using CSS to get the proper look.
**Update: The site is now ‘live’ and did incorporate a joomla CMS back-end, POP/webmail e-mail, mySQL databases, and a host of other utilities. The gallery is a custom AMPwerx template via SmugMug http://galleries.lynphotos.com/
Community Groups \ Non-Profits
Inclusion Revolution

“Inclusion Revolution is a national radio & television show, dedicated to moving our community, across Canada, toward inclusion of persons with all types of disabilities.”
The client wanted a web site to engage the public with a “Modern” site that would include current breaking news, polls and a forum for visitor interaction.
The project began with the creation of a logo that “jumped off the page”. Many of the component and menu images were custom made. The original png files for online viewing were then created as vector graphics for print media.
A content management system was chosen to have members of the team add content as it was available with various modules and components to allow for polls, a forum, scrolling images and more.
Overall the project was a great learning experience and broadened my knowledge a great deal.
*UPDATE-This is no longer an AMPwerx project.

reachAbility Association

The reachAbility project demanded a ‘fresh start’ from a table-based site to a content-rich accessible Site.
Due to the abundance of research materials & resources available to it, the directory structure was categorized; tables were replaced with divisions using valid XHTML & CSS; rel tags were added for clear navigation and the colours are suitable for the visually impaired.
A separate sister ‘text site’ was replaced with a style switcher offering large text and contrast themes. reachAbility.org has increased its hit-rate by approx. 150/day.
*UPDATE-This is no longer an AMPwerx project.
Shake the Stigma (created by the 4-youth program).

Shake the Stigma was the first group project of the reachAbility Association’s 4-Youth program that had the participants build a web site as part of their program. The program enables youth aged 18-30 to develop workplace skills. Built with FrontPage; so no validation.
I oversaw the hosting and maintenance while offering consultation.
4-Youth Free to Be (created by the 4-youth program).

4-Youth Free to Be was was the 2nd group project of the reachAbility Association’s 4-Youth program that had the participants build a wweeb site as part of their program. The program enables youth aged 18-30 to develop workplace skills.
I suggested Dreamweaver would be a step up in the development of a site.
I oversaw the hosting and maintenance while offering consultation.
World Religion Day

World Religion Day is celebrated around the World on the Third Sunday in January each year, on all Continents.

The GLB Hockey League is based in Pubnico, NS and the players play in arenas from Barrington to Yarmouth. This site was developed as a place for everyone to go to find out what’s going on in the GLB League.

Mark Igloliorte’s SketchMail

SketchMail is the brainchild of Mark Igloliorte who would sketch an image on something (notebooks, pieces of paper his blackberry – whatever. He would then send them to friends and family. It now garners a world wide audience.
Another site created from scratch is a collection of those sketches in a full-page gallery that opens to its own separate page for addition comments and information. This was before Lightbox.
AMPWERX Repair

AMPWERX Repair is a musical instrument repair shop in Long Beach, California. With the similarities in the name, many people found my site.
I built a small one-pager to help them find AMPWERX Repair that services products such as: Eden Electronics, Gibson, Kurzweil, Groove Tubes, Behringer and Allen & Heath.

The Dreamweaver Adventure Company

The Dreamweaver Adventure Company was a pre-youth program initiated by John Lam of Dartmouth, NS. The program’s aim was fostering moral education in an engaging manner that would appeal to those aged between 8-12 years old. John developed a game, similar to other role-playing games except, the emphasis is on conquering various predicaments with virtuous actions.
The site was an early experiment and looks were more important than code, so it didn’t validate but the kids liked.
